Burnside is a Business and Enterprise specialist school and a hub for other Business & Enterprise schools in the Tyne and Wear area.

The specialist status is reflected throughout the school and promotes equality and equity. The specialist status is a joint venture between Burnside and Beacon Hill, whom Burnside have been in partnership for the past two decades.

At Burnside we are committed to developing resources for our students and staff as well as the wider community and its partners. Below is a selection of resources and sites we have developed inhouse.

  • Burnside Feeder Schools

    Burnside Feeder Schools is a site developed by Burnside as a transition site for Year 6 students in our Primary Feeder schools. The site contains information about the subjects a new student will have as well as pictures of their new teachers.

  • Cross Curricular Tracker

    Cross Curricular Tracker

    The Cross Curricular Tracker is a web based management tool designed and developed by schools for schools. This site has been developed so that schools can record, track and monitor Enterprise, Cross Curricular themes, work related learning and citizenship across the curriculum.

  • Adobe Tutorials

    Adobe Web Tutorials

    We have developed in-house, our own web based tutorials for using the Adobe / Macromedia products: Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. Learn how to use Dreamweaver to develop websites from the very basic site to a modern site using CSS. Our Fireworks tutorials teach you how to crop and alter your digital photos, as well as creating stylish banners for your website. Finally our Flash tutorials will guide you through the very basics of flash to incorporating sound and video in your applications.

  • Wallsend Memorial Hall

    As part of our dedication to working with the community of Wallsend and local institutions we have callaborated with the people from the Wallsend Memorial Hall to develop a web site to help promote their presence both online and within the local community, as well as offering a point of communication with potential customers and business partners.

  • Bunrside Beacon Hill Gorgor

    BBG Building Futures

    Burnside and Beacon Hill have collaborated once more to work with a School from Gorgor in Kenya. Together we have set up the registered charity BBG Building Futures to help support the growth of Gorgor High School by providing Fair Trade Opportunities and raising capital to improve infrastructure.
