Student Mobile Telephone Use Policy
The school enforces a strict policy on the use of mobile phones by all students. Burnside accepts that students do carry mobile telephones for personal safety reasons and acknowledges that students do bring them onto the site. However, to prevent issues relating to the disrupting of a learning environment, theft of phones or technology being used inappropriately, the school insists that no telephone is visible or active during all times of the school day (unless specific permission is given by a member of staff for educational purposes).
Telephones found in use may be taken from students and stored securely until a parent/guardian can collect them and discuss the matter with the Head of Year.
The school cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to mobile phones, i-pods or other such items. These items are not allowed to be used on the school premises without permission from a member of staff.
